with summer just around the corner here in the land down under it is important before heading to the beach you take the appropriate actions to protect your hair from the harsh elements.
Bleached hair or not the sun shows no mercy when it comes to damaging our hair.
Use a conditioning mask on a regular basis
I regliously use Matrix Biolage HydraSource Deep Cleansing mask alternated with my conditioner each week.
Infused with Aloe Vera and Passion Fruit extracts, the Matrix Biolage HydraSource Mask works to deeply nourish and condition the hair to leave it silky soft and supple. Designed with a lightweight, lavish formula, it's a must have for protected, hydrated hair.
This will also control and tame frizzy hair so it's a win, win situatuion.
Going for a swim in chlorinated or salt water? Try not to wet your hair! It may sound a little crazy but exposure to these elements can cause dry and porous hair. Yes!! That much dreaded frizz. Dry, porous hair, especially hair that has been chemically lightened or highlighted, is more likely to absorb chemicals and create discolouration.
Shower in fresh water before and after
This is something very simple that we can all do. When showering and wetting your hair in fresh water before you swim, this fills the hair follicle and therefore the hair is less likely to pick up those unwanted and damaging chemicals.
It is important once you finish your swim cleanse your hair and skin in fresh water again.
Braid your hair
Braiding your hair is definitely a great way to ensure your hair stays relatively tangle free while swimming and also from the wind.
There is a tremendous amount of ways of doing this these days so explore your options and chose what suits you.
A hat or scarf can also protect your hair from damaging UV rays while vamping up your beach look and looking fresh and fab.

I know a lot of you out there are very afraid of having regular trims but if you have found the right hairdresser that realises what a Claytons Trim is, you have it made.
Taken from experience, your hair can grow so much faster and be a lot healthier if you have regular trims while cutting your haircare routine in half. It makes sense..
